We’ll see you on March 19th!
Thus far we have donated over $1,500 for the victims of the Japanese tsunami and earthquakes. We’re looking to make another $6,000 before the 24 hour podcast this Saturday, for a grand total of $25,000 at the end of the marathon.
Anime Fans Give Back to Japan was started by The One Piece Podcast and a conglomeration of many other podcasts including Konoha Corner, SSAA Podcast, and That Anime Show in an effort to bring together the anime community to help the victims of the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan.
I want to give a big thanks to Haunted Flower who will be doubling our donations up to $5,000 during the 24 hour marathon this Saturday for those who donate and “like” their Facebook page.
For those that have any questions feel free to ask in the comments below. If you’re an actor, voice actor, or industry professional, email us at OnePiecePodcast@gmail.com with a time you’re interested in being on the marathon podcast. The podcast will take place from 6:00PM EST Saturday night through 6:00PM EST Sunday night.
Thanks to all who have donated, and keep an eye out on the guest page. Some big names will start popping up.
We at the One Piece Podcast have put together a thirty minute episode going over what organizations you can donate to, what we’re going to be doing for our marathon podcast, the background behind the earthquake, tsunami, and other recent events in Japan from Greg in Japan. We will be putting up links to many other local charities in the near future, hopefully. For now, keep up the great work donating! We’ve already passed $1,000 and I hope we can get $1,000 more a day until our marathon this weekend. Please listen to the podcast below for more information.

For those wondering why we didn’t link directly to great organizations like The Red Cross, and the particularly involved Doctors Without Borders, it’s because we want to track the donations we get from the anime community.
The Huffington Post on GlobalGiving:
The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund was launched at GlobalGiving.org to garner funds that will be given to a variety of relief organizations helping victims of the earthquake. It has already raised over $100,000, particularly from concerned Twitter users around the world. The project page explains:
We are working with International Medical Corps, Save the Children, and other organizations on the ground to provide support. Our partners on the ground are working hard to provide immediate relief.
