Guest Announcement: J. Michael Tatum and Stephen Hoff

January 31st, 2012 No comments

For today’s announcements, I’m glad to let you know that we will have the entire cast of That Anime Show.

We are happy to announce that J. Michael Tatum will be joining us for this year’s “Anime Fans Give Back to Japan” marathon. Mr. Tatum has lent his voice to practically everything recently, you may know him for his role as Sebastian in Black Butler or his role as France in Hetalia, maybe Scar from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, or perhaps his role as Eneru in One Piece. He’s a veteran voice actor, ADR Director, and script writer for FUNimation. He is the co-host of That Anime Show with his partner in crime, Terri Doty, who will also be on our marathon on March 10th-11th.

We are happy to announce that Stephen Hoff will be joining us for this year’s “Anime Fans Give Back to Japan” marathon. Stephen lends his technical support to That Anime Show in the shadows, but during our marathon you’ll actually hear his voice. He is a veteran ADR Engineer, a job that you may not know much about but takes an extraordinary amount of talent. He has provided his engineering skills to Black Butler, One Piece, Sgt. Frog, and a whole lot more.

Check back tomorrow for our next round of announcements!

Guest Announcement: Spike Spencer, Micah Solusod, and Terri Doty

January 31st, 2012 No comments

We announced recently that we will be holding our second Anime Fans Give Back to Japan marathon on March 10th. Like last year, this will be a 24-hour marathon to raise money for charity. The big difference will be that we have a lot more time to plan and get organized. To get you ready for the event we will be announcing one new guest a day. Since it’s the first day, I figure we break that rule and announce three guests.

We are happy to announce Spike Spencer will be joining us for our “Anime Fans Give Back 2 Japan” marathon. Spike Spencer has voiced Shinji in Evangelion and its incarnations, as well as voices in Vampire Knight, Battle Angel, Suikoden, Orphen, Spriggan, Nadesico, Mar, PreTear, Buso Renkin, Code Geass 2, and Bleach. His video game credits include World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusades, Tales of Vesperia, Steambot Chronicles, Star Ocean 2, Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, BlazBlue and many others. Spike has also lent his voice to numerous radio and TV commercials. Check out his website.

We are happy to announce Micah Solusod will be joining us for our “Anime Fans Give Back 2 Japan” marathon. Micah is known for his role as Soul in Soul Eater as well as roles in Corpse Princess, Rideback, Birdy the Mighty: Decode, and Blassreiter. He is also an accomplished artist and a big fan of anime. Check out his website.

We are happy to announce Terri Doty will be joining us for our “Anime Fans Give Back 2 Japan” marathon. Terri Doty is currently the host of That Anime Show with her partner in crime J. Michael Tatum. She is also an accomplished director at FUNimation Entertainment directing Corpse Princess, Rin: Daughters of the Mnemosyne, Rideback, Big Windup!, and Baka and Test. She is also an accomplished voice actor, lending her voice most recently as Virgo in Fairy Tail.

We will continue to update every day with a new guest. We have some very big names returning, so keep an eye out. If you have ideas for programming, guests, or would like to be on the show, let us know by emailing us at AnimeFansGiveBack@gmail.com. Thanks!

On the very first episode of the Anime Fans Give Back Podcast we sit down with Stephanie Sheh as she talks about her We Heart Japan efforts and talk about their event We Heart Performing for Japan. This event features the cast of Cowboy Bebop performing an episode of the show LIVE. Proceeds go to the Japanese NGO Earthquake Relief and Recovery Fund. It features:

  • A concert by singer/songwriter Mari Iijima
  • A live stage reading by voice actors Beau Billingslea, Steve Blum, Melissa Fahn Wendee Lee and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn,
  • “Who Wants To Be A Sentai Super Villain” fight choreography demonstration by Dan Southworth and TJ Rotolo
  • Additional appearances by Stephanie Sheh and Michael Sinterniklaas!

On this episode we also get an update from Jason concerning our “Anime Fans Give Messages to Japan” effort. A big thanks to FUNimation Entertainment for all their help on that! Greg also peeks in to introduce us to his new segment. You can also check out a clip of his appearance on Fukui TV (a Fuji TV affiliate) talking about our efforts in March and beyond in the video below.

Also check out the Anime Fans Give Back forum: contribute what you’d like to see on the podcast, which guests you’d like us to have in the future, and ideas of ways we can help beyond monetary assistance. Spread the word about this and the We Heart Japan effort and keep interest alive, the people of Japan still need our help!

As an effort to maintain awareness, update the general public on the current situation, and inform listeners of future events, we will be launching a podcast beginning next week. Podcast episodes will occasionally include guests who are supporting efforts in Japan or who look to raise awareness for the ongoing situation there. We will also highlight our cross-country anime convention “Anime Fans Give Messages to Japan” effort that has been made possible in large part with the help of FUNimation Entertainment.

Our first episode of the podcast will feature Stephanie Sheh and her We Heart Japan event on October 1st with featured guests:

Beau Billingslea (BLEACH, FRANKLIN & BASH, NARUTO)
Steve Blum (COWBOY BEBOP, FINAL FANTASY VII, GUREN LAGANN)
Melissa Fahn (DIGIMON, FLCL, BLUE DRAGON)

We strongly urge that those in the Los Angeles area attend the event, it’s for a great cause, and there are some amazing guests.

Episode Two: 24 Hours for Japan (Part Two)

April 14th, 2011 3 comments

We are proud to bring you the second installment of our 24 Hour Podcast to raise money for those in Japan affected by the March 11th earthquake and tsunami. We are missing around an hour or so due to technical difficulties, so we pick up at around the midnight hour on this recording. During these 24 hours we raised over $30,000, and spoke with voice actors and industry members from across the anime community.

We are happy to announce that we are supporting Smile Kids Japan’s fundraiser to help the orphans of this tragedy. This is also through GlobalGiving. All you have to do is click the link for the “Help orphans in Japan rebuild lives post-tsunami” charity in our GlobalGiving fundraising page and the amount you want to donate. This amount is still added to our total. Let’s keep raising money for those who need it!
