Dear Readers and Anime Fans,
Due to professional and academic commitments, we will not be holding an “Anime Fans Give Back” marathon this year. Please do all you can to help those still struggling in Japan by donating or taking some time to keep them in your thoughts over the next few days.
You all have been amazing in the amount you have given and all of your tremendous support. Please check out our YouTube page as we continue to update it with our event from last year. Donations remain open, just click the flag to your right.
Thank you.
I want to thank every single one of you who donated, listened, spread the word, or took part in our second Anime Fans Give Back to Japan event. We raised for GlobalGiving’s Japan funds $41,405 total, including $10,705 during the marathon this year thanks to all of your generous help! The anime community once again banded together and showed what they’re capable of! Donations ALWAYS remain open.
GlobalGiving has posted a post on the progress made because of your donations over the past year.
We will be posting the event in its entirety starting in around two weeks on this site and on YouTube. We have saved the full 24 hours to several different computers to prevent what happened to last year’s event. The video of the event has also been recorded, so it will likely be on our YouTube page: http://youtube.com/animefansgiveback and also on our podcast feed (link on the right).
Assuming we do this again next year, if anyone has a cause they feel needs attention, feel free to post it in the comments below.
Thank you all again for watching, and for donating. Bang.
Anime Fans Give Back 2 Japan begins March 10th 2011 at 5:00PM ET!
We’ll be announcing guests every day beginning on January 30th.
As an effort to maintain awareness, update the general public on the current situation, and inform listeners of future events, we will be launching a podcast beginning next week. Podcast episodes will occasionally include guests who are supporting efforts in Japan or who look to raise awareness for the ongoing situation there. We will also highlight our cross-country anime convention “Anime Fans Give Messages to Japan” effort that has been made possible in large part with the help of FUNimation Entertainment.
Our first episode of the podcast will feature Stephanie Sheh and her We Heart Japan event on October 1st with featured guests:
Beau Billingslea (BLEACH, FRANKLIN & BASH, NARUTO)
Steve Blum (COWBOY BEBOP, FINAL FANTASY VII, GUREN LAGANN)
Melissa Fahn (DIGIMON, FLCL, BLUE DRAGON)
Wendee Lee (BLEACH, THE MELANCHOLY OF HARUHI SUZUMIYA, MAGIC KNIGHTS RAYEARTH)
We strongly urge that those in the Los Angeles area attend the event, it’s for a great cause, and there are some amazing guests.
Please subscribe to our iTunes feed if you would like to automatically receive episodes as they are released. We’ll see you next week with the first episode.

We’ll see you on March 19th!
Thus far we have donated over $1,500 for the victims of the Japanese tsunami and earthquakes. We’re looking to make another $6,000 before the 24 hour podcast this Saturday, for a grand total of $25,000 at the end of the marathon.
Anime Fans Give Back to Japan was started by The One Piece Podcast and a conglomeration of many other podcasts including Konoha Corner, SSAA Podcast, and That Anime Show in an effort to bring together the anime community to help the victims of the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan.
